Predators Have Opportunity to Tie Second-Longest Point Streak in Franchise History

The Nashville Predators have run their point streak up to 13 games (11-0-2), and if you think they're close to breaking the franchise record, you would be correct. While the team is close, they aren't there just yet as the Predators need to get a point in their next game to tie the second-longest point streak, then follow that up with a point in the game after to tie the record at 15 for the franchise.

The 14-game point streak came in 2015-16 while the 15-game point streak happened in 2017-18. In the Predators' previous game, it was a huge win over the Winnipeg Jets in regulation to continue rolling and getting points at the most important time.

While it is a long-shot for the Predators to catch the Jets, Colorado Avalanche, or Dallas Stars this season since they are nine points back, it's a statement win and just proves Nashville can compete with a contender above them in the standings for when playoffs roll around.

While the goaltending has been lights out and Juuse Saros in particular looks like he could carry the Predators through a couple of playoff rounds, Roman Josi is in peak Norris form at age 33. He has been as hot as any defender in the NHL and is holding down the back-end as there have been some injuries to deal with lately to Dante Fabbro and Spencer Stastney.

During this Predators point streak, the team has dominated, scoring 53 goals and allowing just 26. For a team that has been criticized for lack of scoring, 4.07 goals-per-game is deadly for opponents. On the other end, you're not going to lose many games if the team is allowing two or fewer goals. The Predators have done so 10 times in their previous 13 games.

The next test of the Predators comes on March 16 on the road against the Seattle Kraken who have lost three games in a row, but are still trying to hunt down the final playoff spot. If Nashville can find a way to get two points and limit the Kraken to zero, it should make Seattle a non-factor to take the Predators' playoff spot this season.
