Jerod Mayo's tenure as head coach of the New England Patriots is in full swing. The 2024 NFL Draft is over and the team concluded Rookie minicamp over the weekend.
So with the preseason inching closer and closer, Mayo is making plans for training camp.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, Mayo and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni have talked about holding a single August joint practice in Foxborough.
"The teams have been frequent preseason foes over the years, and if they meet up again this year as expected -- which would be the second week -- they plan to practice together. It would be the Patriots' only joint practice of the preseason," Reiss writes. "Word is that Mayo prefers just a single practice, in part to limit fighting that can sometimes become prevalent on a second day.
While the Eagles are considered to be strong Super Bowl contenders, the Patriots are a very, very long shot to make it. But competing against a team of that caliber will help prepare New England for the regular season.
And it will give Drake Maye and the other rookies a real taste of the NFL.
So let's see if this happens.
