Tanor Bortolini was put in a tough spot as 2023 was a season of change for the Wisconsin football program.

Bortolini was asked to man one of the toughest positions on the offense, sort of by default. It boggles the mind that in 2023, the Badgers didn’t enter the off-season with a true center with the ability to block and shotgun snap at the same time. So, the Wisconsin native had the unenviable task of being the next man up.

And to his credit he got better as the season went on. While so many of us wondered out loud how much better the offense would be if Jake Renfro was healthy, Bortolini worked on his craft. And while his snapping never got “good,” it started moving toward the “serviceable” category. All the while, he was one of the more consistent blockers on the roster.

With the mental fortitude gained by a season of adversity, Bortolini decided to forgo his remaining eligibility. As he enters the 2024 NFL Draft he is poised to become the next Wisconsin football offensive linemen trying to make a name for himself. His first stop on that journey was to Mobile, Alabama and the 2024 Senior Bowl, and he did not disappoint.

During the three days of practice, Wisconsin football offensive lineman Tanor Bortolini made a name for himself as a fundamentally sound player.

He showed pro potential at both his natural guard position and his adopted center position. When he got into the game, he played admirably at both guard spots and center. Even his snaps were on point, if only a touch slow. He’s moving in the right direction, and with the right offensive line coach, he could prove to be a versatile asset.

Now let’s take a look at him in action during Saturday’s game:
